Spotlight: November 1, 2010 – Inspired Arts & Gifts

CONGRATS TO CHRISTINE B. THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.

We love artisanal fairs, craft shows and unique markets that feature the most talented B.C. and Fraser Valley artists. Trouble is, these markets are generally only a day or two long and then we have to seek out the next one in order to find these tremendous talents again. Well, not anymore. Trudi Martens and Kayla Kraubner have given us Inspired Arts & Gifts; a fabulous shop filled with the works of more than fifty talented artisans, mostly BC-based. It’s open year-round, it’s full of beautiful artwork and we think you’re going to love it.

For over a decade Trudi has explored and perfected her pottery skills as a hobbyist while her children were growing up. She always knew it would become her profession as well as her hobby, and over time it has grown into a successful business called Solstice Pottery. Trudi’s heart for artisanal works and the spirit put into each piece of art is what inspired her to open Inspired Arts & Gifts. Knowing many local artists from her years of creating with Solstice Pottery, Trudi had the foundation of many great connections to start up this fabulous shop.

Trudi’s daughter Kayla caught the creative bug from Mom and has been creating art since she was a child. In recent years she created the Inspired jewellery line, a name that the two decided to use for their charming little store.

Trudi and Kayla have sourced out many of BC’s most talented artisans. At Inspired Arts & Gifts you will find some of FVP’s favourites such as Aromatica Fine Teas & Soaps, Campbell’s Gold Honey, Clayburn Comforts and many others that we were so grateful to learn of when we visited the store. Stealthstone Design, Cranberries Naturally, Linda Phelps, Fraser Valley Gourmet, Michael Hamilton-Clark – the list goes on. Click here to see who else’s work you will find at Inspired Arts & Gifts. Truly gorgeous pottery works, handmade children’s clothing, luxurious Alpaca scarves, stunning jewelry, smooth wood carvings, stained glass works – there is lots to discover.

Inspired Arts & Gifts is one of those places where you can browse for hours; each section of the store is full of unique works. It’s pretty awesome to pick up just about any piece in the shop and reflect upon the time and energy and love that someone poured into creating it. Each item has a story and the ladies in the shop are more than thrilled to share them with you.

The holidays are just around the corner (Halloween is over so it’s officially okay to talk about it now!) and a generous gift basket of gourmet goodies from Inspired Arts & Gifts awaits one of our fabulous readers. It contains treats from Solstice Pottery, Fraser Valley Gourmet, The Back Porch Coffee, Aromatica Teas and lots of other delights. This would make an amazing holiday gift  – to yourself! :) Please leave a comment below to be entered to win. If you have a favourite local artist or product, let us know! Winner will be notified on November 15th, the same date FVP has a huge holiday announcement – stay tuned and good luck!

  14. Every day I wear bracelets I got from Inspired Arts. People are constantly commenting on them and asking where I got them. Recently I was preparing for a formal event and went to Inspired Arts for my jewellery. Trudy and Marjolein (Sweetpiece Jewellery) fixed me up with beautiful pieces. I’m so happy with the jewellery that I’ll be able to wear for many years. Be sure to come to Yarrow to spend some time at Inspired Arts.
