Congratulations to Stella. This contest is now closed.
Charlotte and Rob Lepp have been farming in BC for over 25 years, so to say that they know a thing or two about fresh produce, quality meat and local suppliers is a huge understatement. Between a self-described “foodie” who values preparing quality meals for her own family and a hard-working farmer who takes pride in providing great products, you have got two people with a major passion for local and home-grown ingredients. And that’s just the beginning.
Lepp Farm Market has been a long time dream of Rob and Charlotte. With the intention to build a year-round market that would also include local suppliers and gourmet food items, their dream became a reality in 2009 when its doors were opened. With the look and feel of a farm market and a well organized store that has all of your grocery needs, they sure hit the nail on the head.
All of the poultry and pork sold at Lepp Farm Market are supplied locally by the Lepp’s and raised without the use of antibiotics or growth hormones, in keeping with Canadian standards. The animals are given ample living space and are fed high quality, all vegetarian diets. The beef is hand-selected and raised for Lepp Farm Market on a small local feedlot. The handmade sausages are prepared in-house by the butchers using top quality meats.
The Lepp’s grow and sell many of the fruits and vegetables you will find at the Market. With their own orchards producing apples, cherries, apricots and more, in addition to producing their own pumpkins, zucchini, tomatoes and peppers, you can’t get much more fresh than this. Remember the green Corn Shack that pops up every year on the Abby/Mission Highway? You guessed it, that’s the Lepp’s freshly picked corn!
Some of the local products for sale at the Market include Goodies by Thelma (canned goods now made with some of Lepp’s own produce), Estevan Tuna (which is caught and processed in B.C.), Missing Goat jams and chutneys, and The Berry Boys (local cranberries). There really are just too many to name!
Lepp Farm Market also has an in-house deli and bakery, where you can stop by for a lunch of homemade soup, sandwiches made with fresh deli meat or dessert (their brownies are yummy).
A wide variety of cooking classes are offered, with a schedule that varies from month to month. They are bringing in top of the line Chefs and Restaurant Owners to teach you, as well as entertain you. Many of the classes sell out fast, so ask about them the next time you are in the store, or call for more details. Chef Dez teaches at Lepp Farm Market twice each month. Please leave a note below to be entered to win one ticket to an upcoming Chef Dez cooking class!
Whether you are a 100 mile diet follower or just a person who loves to buy fresh food and support local businesses, you are going to love it here. Have you been to Lepp Farm Market and do you have any suggestions of things to try?
