Spotlight: Embers BBQ House – January 17, 2011

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Congratulations to Dee W!  This contest is now closed.

Embers BBQ House, now in its 8th year of business, is located in the heart of Mission. Have you been? It is awesome!

Our first introduction to Embers was at a summer wedding. Rather than ‘traditional’ wedding food, we were treated to a scrumptious meal of BBQ ribs, chickens and all the usual side dishes. How exciting it was to learn there was a restaurant to visit where this delicious BBQ fare was available 5 days/week! If you are looking for unique and tasty catering for banquets, weddings or corporate events for up to 125 people definitely check out their yummy catering menus.

Joanne and Rob (above) are two of Ember’s new owners. They fell in love with this local treasure several years ago and when it went up for sale in 2010, they jumped on the opportunity. The new owners love Embers just as it is, with no intentions to change the staff, menus or atmosphere. Why mess with perfection, right? :) Love the way Joanne explained their passion – “We love the Fraser Valley, we love BBQ and we love Embers!”

We love the comfortable environment at Embers, the wholesome, family-friendly feel. The staff are great and when you walk in the door the most delicious smells greets you. Mmm… BBQ! It’s one of those comfy neighbourhood places that are great for grabbing a tasty, affordable meal on your own, with a friend or with your family. Embers BBQ House is open 11:30AM – 8:00PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

It’s hard to decide what to recommend at this fab Fraser Valley BBQ joint, because everything we’ve tried is tasty. One of the favourites is their wraps. Each wrap is made fresh. They literally roll out the dough and stone grill each wrap as it is ordered. For just $10, you receive a huge, fresh wrap with delicious fillings, along with hand cut fries or salad. Try the BBQ Pork (slaw, onions, cheese) or the Marco Spanelli (chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sauce). Everything is made in house at Embers, including the stone-baked bread and the BBQ sauces.

Embers has a TV where the Canucks or Lions games are always on. However, they understand that some folks like to watch the games at home in their sweatpants. On game days, take out orders are 10% off. Great idea!

Like BBQ? Please leave a note below to be entered to win a gift certificate for dinner for 2 at Embers. Winner will be announced January 31, 2011. Hope you will all be able to stop by Embers next time you are in the area. Oh! And if you’re not too full for dessert, you have to give the apple ginger spice cake a try.
