Spotlight: September 6, 2010 – Zenberry

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

It’s always so interesting to hear how one person’s entrepreneurial journey began. Oftentimes they had known their plan all along, but other’s life paths take them to a place that shines a beacon light on an opportunity.

Skye Peyton has a lengthy background in the hospitality industry. A few years ago he was working in sales for a company that sold food service machines; frozen yogurt machines in particular. Taking his knowledge of these machines mixed with the desire to spend more time with his young family, Skye decided to break free from corporate land and open up his own venture: Zenberry.

Zenberry is a frozen yogurt and espresso bar located in Pitt Meadows. This funky, comfy boutique-style cafe would not be out of place in a big city, but it’s here, in our Fraser Valley! Skye noticed the influx of young families moving to the valley from the city and wanted to provide them with somewhere they could come to relax, grab a drink or a healthy frozen yogurt.

Did we just type ‘healthy frozen yogurt’? Indeed! This frozen yogurt is not masquerading as ice cream. Made on-site at Zenberry, it has a tangy, delicious yogurt taste which pairs perfectly with fresh fruits, cereals, chocolate chips or any of the other 20 toppings available. For breakfast, a snack or dessert, Zenberry’s nut-free frozen yogurt is a (nearly) guiltless indulgence. For those with lactose intolerance, a tasty blood orange sorbet is available. It is yummy!

Serving up the finest espresso and blended coffee/tea drinks, Zenberry is a fabulous place to catch up with a friend, meet a business contact for a drink or spend some ‘me time’ relaxing. If you work on the road, Zenberry also offers wi-fi. Meetup and networking groups are welcome at Zenberry, as are Mommy and baby gatherings.

Skye’s goal is to create a relaxed, non-pretentious, personalized coffee bar experience for his customers and we believe he has succeeded. Each time we visit, customers are greeted by name and often he already has their drinks on the go when we sees them coming!

Stop by soon to check out this great little gem. We highly recommend the roiboos tea latte, complete with fabulous latte art, or the yogurt topped with raspberries and fresh blueberries. De-lish. Parking is available out front, but if that is full there is underground parking behind the cafe.
