Say Cheese, a Gourmet Grilled Cheeserie, opened its doors at the end of December 2012 in the heart of adorable Fort Langley. Though small in size, this take-out cafe packs a punch of cheesy flavour.
Opened by Americo and his partner Dave, who is also a partner in the popular 1827 restaurant located just a few doors away, this passion project came about after many discussions between them to collaborate on a business together. Sharing a love for good food, combined with the availability of the space they are now in, turned their dreams into reality.
Although Americo’s primary background was in the health care system, he also had experience as an entrepreneur with an upstart cafe in Vancouver. He has lived in the Walnut Grove area for 17 years. With the recent influx of popularity surrounding food trucks, he was looking for a similar concept that provided simple, but delicious food for people on the go.
By using products from other local companies, such as A Bread Affair and Cranberries Naturally, Say Cheese has created a simple menu of 7 grilled cheese sandwiches, ranging from The Classic, which consists of white bread and Kraft cheese slices, to the Gobble Gobble, a roasted turkey, brie and cranberry jalapeno jelly sandwich. With a monthly feature and student special offered, there is definitely a grilled cheese for all tastes here.
Currently, Say Cheese offers cute take-and-go envelopes for your grilled cheese sandwiches, but hopes to provide some seating options for their customers in the spring and summer. This will definitely be a great spot for people watching in Fort Langley, one of our favorite things to do on a sunny day. We look forward to visiting again and sinking our teeth into one of these scrumptious-sounding cheesy delights!
