Pulse Spotlight, May 4/09 – Angela Tunner, The Renaissance Gourmet

Monday, May 4th, 2009
We recently had the opportunity to chat with Angela Tunner, The Renaissance Gourmet.  Angela is certainly one talented, creative Fraser Valley entrepreneur!  What first piqued our interest was her website’s healthy, efficient kitchen tools & tips, and the scrumptious recipes using fresh, whole foods. After our chat and a wander through her website, reading how Angela became ‘a chef by accident’, and how she founded Eat Like A Millionaire Omnimedia Inc, we were impressed with Angela’s story.  Not only talented with food, Angela is a kind-hearted, driven business woman. Her positive, enthusiastic spirit is apparent as she works with food based businesses to create their websites, branding campaigns, editing, publishing and more.
Angela’s interesting career experiences & creative trials have contributed to a clearly impressive ‘mental library’, which The Renaissance Gourmet shares with its visitors.  Reading ‘A Love Story‘ on Angela’s website, you’ll learn that her heart is even bigger than her list of talents.  She writes that each time she creates a recipe, it is for her son.

simply_summer_gourmet_ebookWe had the pleasure of trying some recipes from Angela’s award-winning eCookBook, Simply Summer.  This eBook is full of delightful, flavourful, delicious recipes.  Simply Summer includes helpful hints for summertime cooking and living.  Our favourites so far: Chicken & Brie Sandwiches with Balsamic Onions (mmm!) and Apples with Vanilla and Lavender.  We love that this is an environmentally friendly eBook, and the fact that it’s only $4.99!  It’s a perfect Mother’s Day gift, a great hostess/housewarming gift, or a special treat for yourself if you love to cook.

On Wednesday, May 6th, subscribers to Angela’s website will be receiving ideas & instructions to prepare Mom an at-home Mother’s Day Tea Party!  We asked Angela to share one of her favourite tea time recipes.  This weekend we gave the recipe a test run… and they were simply delectable.  Enjoy!
Lavender Brownies with Cherries
A chic take on a brownie. These make a decadent dessert when served with whipped cream or ice cream, or just serve them by themselves with your favourite beverage. Either way, they are just delicious!  Note: You will need a toaster oven that holds an 8-inch by 8-inch pan.  Otherwise, divide the batter between two smaller dishes and bake each separately. The cooking time remains the same.
