In 2005, photographers Mark & Elizabeth Kowal were planning to move from Mission to downtown Vancouver. They dreamed of opening a studio in Gastown, and found a number of great locations. Of course, life sometimes has different plans for us all. A friend suggested Mark & Elizabeth check out an old chapel for sale in Chilliwack. They went, they saw, they fell in love. Soon after, White Album Weddings set up shop in 1886 Wedding Chapel.
This wedding chapel stole our hearts too. It is a heritage chapel built in, yes, 1886. Driving down a quiet country road in Chilliwack, one suddenly comes across the most adorable little chapel. The exterior is breath-taking, with a beautiful garden off to the side. The chapel holds about 100 people for a ceremony. There are simple, but gorgeous wooden pews lining the aisles, an old piano and huge, decorative windows all around. For a rather small building, the interior is so grand!
The bride room is to die for. Big comfy chairs, old hardwood floors… it looks like something out of an early century movie. This room is also used as a studio for Mark & Elizabeth’s photography. We looked through some albums of weddings held at this chapel. So romantic, makes us want to get married all over again!
The chapel even has a bell that rings when the bride is coming. How sweet is that?!
Mark & Elizabeth offer wedding photography for those getting married at their chapel in Chilliwack, as well as any other fabulous venues around the Fraser Valley. Visit their website for some gorgeous portfolio shots.
