Congratulations to Lynne R. This contest is now closed.
Mmm, fresh baked bread. We bet when you finish reading this week’s Pulse Spotlight, you won’t be able to think of anything else!
The Fraser Valley is home to some amazing bakeries. Truly, we are spoiled with the amount of talented bakers in our region – some of which have been in the same location for decades.
One of our favourite bakeries also runs a wholesale division to their business, meaning no matter where you are in the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver or beyond, there is somewhere nearby that carries breads from Langley’s A Bread Affair!
A Bread Affair is run by owners Pat (above) and Tanya McCarthy, who moved to BC from Eastern Canada. Tanya, who trained under a master artisan baker and Pat, who is passionately dedicated to creating a bond between producers and consumers, opened A Bread Affair in November 2007.
Their bakery offers 19 different styles of bread, including Okanagan Apple Bread, Amazing Sourdough, Chiabatta, Spelt, 6 Grain Multigrain, Apricot & Walnut, Roasted Garlic & Cheese and a variety of baguettes. You will find a selection of these breads at Fraser Valley retailers such as Lepp Farm market, IGA, Bruce’s Country Market, Hofstead’s, Ralph’s, Hamilton Farm, JD Farms, Heritage Meats and many others. In the summer months you will also find A Bread Affair at several farmer’s markets throughout the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver.
A Bread Affair, a certified organic bakery, uses traditional baking practices which include no baker’s yeast. Production includes 4 live cultures and small batches, ensuring pure artisan bread as a result. Local ingredients are sourced when possible, including hazelnuts, flour, apples and more.
The cafe at A Bread Affair is a pretty fantastic place to hang out if you love the smell of fresh baked bread! They offer specialty coffees, cold drinks, hearty sandwiches and scrumptious treats such as peanut butter fudge bars, red velvet devil cake (with sinful cream cheese icing), carrot cake and many other seasonal delights.
We have a mad love affair going on with A Bread Affair. Their breads are delicious and the variety is such that one of their products is always a perfect fit for whatever we are cooking. Their smart marketing makes us giggle, too. A Bread Affair packaging has sassy slogans such as ‘a good bread is best served naked’, ‘love at first bite’, ‘your other baker doesn’t need to know’ and some others that always bring a smile.
Have you been to A Bread Affair? What’s your favourite bread?
We have a $25 A Bread Affair gift certificate to share with one of you!
