London Drugs Fall Indulgences

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

We were  invited to the London Drugs Fall Indulgences event at the Vancouver Lookout and I had the pleasure to attend on behalf of FVP. It was such a fun night, with cocktails, makeup applications and samples, but it was informative too! We got a sneak peek into some of the great new makeup, skincare and beauty products hitting London Drugs stores over the next few months. With over 45 locations in BC alone, it’s definitely time for you to visit this 100% Canadian owned company’s extensive cosmetic department.

While the night focused on what’s hot and new, I also learned some great makeup tips and tricks courtesy of Revlon’s National Product Trainer Jacquie Hutchinson and other representatives for brands such as Almay, Loreal, as well as Marcelle, Studio Makeup, and NYX Cosmetics. One of the products we can’t wait to share more about with you is BB cream, a multi-tasking Beauty Balm that can replace your primer, moisturizer and foundation, plus it has great effects on the skin.

If an introduction to the hottest makeup wasn’t enough, I also got to discover some new skincare products that are targeted to specific concerns, such as StriVectin’s Tightening Eye Serum and Eau Thermale Avene’s Sterile Cosmetics for Intolerant Skin. I watched as London Drug’s own Skin Analysis Machine measured everything from moisture and elasticity in the skin to sun damage and pore size. When it’s done, it prints out a detailed synopsis of your personal skin care needs and concerns. Imagine being able to choose products that are perfectly tailored for your skin type! No more guesswork or games.

I was really excited to learn that high-end fashion designer Marc Jacobs is introducing his latest fragrance, Dot at London Drugs on August 1. With the most adorable bottle you’ve seen in a while (caution: ladybug lovers), this fragrance has top notes of dragon fruit and berries, combined with scents of jasmine, layered with hints of vanilla musk. It might just be the perfect blend of summer in a bottle.

With makeup, skincare and fragrance taken care of, I moved onto another exciting division of the beauty world, nails! We’ve shared our love for gel manicures in the past and so I almost squeaked with excitement when I learned about Red Carpet Manicure’s at-home gel nail kits that include everything you need to do your own manicure, including an LED light to cure your nails. Man landed on the moon and women will soon be able to do their own manicures and have them last for more than 2 days without chipping!

If trends are what you love and nail polish is just another extension of your personality, you’re going to love Revlon’s Nail Art Neon line! With 8 colors to choose from in bright shades, you can change your polish as often as your outfits and look perfectly suited for summer. Try a bold combo of hot pink with a french tip in lime green or dabble dots of yellow on your coral polish. It’s an instant tan in a bottle as they make your hands look sun kissed and summer ready.

I can’t wait to share more of my product reviews with you. From BB Cream to long-lasting foundation, liquid eyeliner that really lasts and Freezeframe’s Instant Lash, we’ve got lots to test and share with you in the near future!

London Drugs stores are located throughout the Fraser Valley. To find the store nearest you, please visit their website and check out the store locator.
