The Time Has Come

31117_385488216710_7738495_nIn March of 2009 I started FraserValleyPulse.com with an intention. I set out to establish a local online resource that featured and uncovered exciting local businesses and events in my community. I met some amazing local women with the same desire and together we worked so hard. I am tremendously proud of what this website and its contributors have accomplished over the past few years. In less than two years we had a readership of 30,000 each month – that is not easy to do and is something to be excited about! The experiences we enjoyed through this blog, the people we’ve met… amazing. I feel honoured and blessed for everything that has come from FVP.

This isn’t the end of Fraser Valley Pulse. It will remain online as a resource and may be updated from time to time. However, the time has come to officially bow out and to relieve myself of any expectations. I am a Mum to a busy toddler and my time online is limited nowadays. Rather than live with one foot halfway in, I’m going to lay my dear blog here to rest peacefully :)

I am spending some time with my new blog adventure called I Love That – www.ilovethat.ca. You will find a few of the same topics covered here on FVP, but an entirely different format. Please stop by sometime.

See you around, dearest readers. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for reading.

Once in a Million Autumn Wine and Dine in Aldergrove

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

In case you haven’t heard, there is something really special going on in Aldergrove. 100 local families are coming together as part of a new reality show, to increase the neighbourhood’s net worth to $1 million in just under three months. Each week the families participate in a challenge to find new ways to save money, reduce debts and increase their financial stability. The show is in production at present and will air on OWN Canada in early 2012. Vancouver’s Force Four Productions is the local production company.

The participants of the Million Dollar Neighbourhood have been challenged to plan, orchestrate, implement and host a luncheon that is sure to be the social event of the season!

EAT! Fraser Valley 2011

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Last weekend we visited Eat! Fraser Valley, a Food & Cooking Festival for people who love to cook, eat, and grow food, which probably sums up most people in the Fraser Valley.  This event has been growing over the past few years and this year did not disappoint.

The crowds were thick, but there was a wide variety of exhibitors to discover throughout the Marketplace.  It’s great to see local gems making a name for themselves on a bigger market and being able to introduce their products to a greater population.  A few of the stops we made were at Honeyview Farms, Anita’s Organic Grain & Flour, as well as Gelderman Farms and many, many more.

Pitt Meadows Day 2011

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Pitt Meadows Day takes place this year on June 4, 2011. This year marks 70 years of community celebration! Wow!

The day starts off at 7AM (till 10AM) with the infamous pancake breakfast, hosted by the Pitt Meadows Lions Club. This is a family favourite and a great way to start off the festivities!

Enjoy the parade from 11AM – 12:30PM. The route is as follows: The parade starts at Blakely Road and Hammond Road, goes west on Hammond Road and north on Harris Road to end at the Heritage Hall. Kids love the Pitt Meadows Day parade! I grew up as a kid in Pitt Meadows Day and I still remember the firetruck and all of the exciting floats driving by. What a fun time!

Harris Park is the place to be for the rest of the day. From 12:30PM – 5:00PM the park is alive with festivities. Baseball games, rock climbing, face painting, live music and a historic car display are just some of the things you will experience at this year’s event. Be ready at 1:00PM for the opening ceremonies and crowning of the Pitt Meadows Day Queen.

Salmon dinner is served by the Pitt Meadows volunteer firefighters in the Heritage Hall from 5PM – 7PM and a family dance happens upstairs from 6:30PM – 8:30PM.
