Spotlight: November 1, 2010 – Inspired Arts & Gifts

Monday, November 1st, 2010

CONGRATS TO CHRISTINE B. THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.

We love artisanal fairs, craft shows and unique markets that feature the most talented B.C. and Fraser Valley artists. Trouble is, these markets are generally only a day or two long and then we have to seek out the next one in order to find these tremendous talents again. Well, not anymore. Trudi Martens and Kayla Kraubner have given us Inspired Arts & Gifts; a fabulous shop filled with the works of more than fifty talented artisans, mostly BC-based. It’s open year-round, it’s full of beautiful artwork and we think you’re going to love it.

For over a decade Trudi has explored and perfected her pottery skills as a hobbyist while her children were growing up.

Spotlight: October 11, 2010 – Paper Nation

Monday, October 11th, 2010

For those of you who visited Fresh! Fraser Valley this year, we are sure you will remember a fabulous, colourful booth display by Paper Nation. Local entrepreneur Bryan Heidinger brought Paper Nation to Fresh! to introduce this brand new store to in-the-know Fraser Valley residents. We knew from that booth alone that this store was going to rock!

We were thrilled to be there as Paper Nation opened its doors this past weekend in Historic Downtown Abbotsford; we just couldn’t wait to share this gem with you! It is, in a word, awesome! Our team can’t get enough of sparkly papers and handmade cards. If you are a stationery and scrapbooking fanatic, you are going to love this shop.

Spotlight: August 2, 2010 – Wishes and Co.

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

“She wore an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka dot bikini…” We think if she could pull that look off, good for her! But as we all know, not all women are itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini types. So where does one find a bathing suit for all shapes, sizes and purposes? Where can you find something fun for the beach, sturdy for water aerobics or with that extra specialty fit you require? Wishes & Co. on White Rock beach – that’s where!

We are highly impressed with the swimwear selection at Wishes & Co.  They carry over 50 brands of swimwear and Owner Wendy Hewitt estimates approximately 10,000 pieces are in store at any time.

Spotlight: April 5, 2010 – Clayburn Comforts

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Recently we were introduced to a few new-to-us stores in Abbotsford’s charming Clayburn Village.  One of our discoveries was Clayburn Comforts, which we instantly fell in love with!

Sue Kavelman and her family moved to Clayburn Village in 2000 and set to work with restoring their 1905 heritage home. Renovating and restoring the gorgeous building was a lot of work, which saw the Kavelmans lifting the house up to pour a concrete foundation. During the restorations every brick on the building was individually removed, cleaned and returned to the house.
