A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending a dinner party catered by a fabulous local company. Over the years we’ve attended hundreds of events and there are a handful of outstanding Fraser Valley catering companies that we are always thrilled to recommend. It was our pleasure to find another to add to our list – the food this company prepared was mmm mmm goooood! Since folks are starting to organize wedding and party catering for this summer, we couldn’t wait to share this new find with you.

Weekly Spotlight, January 11/10 – girlygifties
Tuesday, January 12th, 2010When we asked Alli Mansfield what inspired her to start her own business, her reply made us giggle. She had received a ’spam’ email from a gift basket company in a far-away land, but for reasons unknown to her she decided to check out their website. ”Who would want to receive all this… junk, in a straw basket delivered to their door?!” was the reaction she described to us. Alli was kind of surprised by the offerings, noting that cheese wheels and boxed chocolate almonds weren’t to everyone’s liking. Perusing the internet she didn’t find much at all that would suit her taste, gift-box-wise. So for the next few months, Alli kept a journal by her bed and let her creativity flow. She took note of colours, themes, phrases… all kinds of ideas that came to mind.

Pulse Spotlight, November 2/09 – James & Sarah Avender
Sunday, November 1st, 2009We met up with this fabulous husband and wife entrepreneur team a few weeks back. Now that Halloween is over, we feel it’s fair game to start talking about the holidays, hee hee
Every year, we seem to be later and later getting our Christmas lights up. And when we do, it’s a few sad strings of plain blue lights with a token few missing ones. It takes us all day, and we end up with a fair number of war wounds along the way. Imagine a company whose mission and job it is to ensure your holiday light displays are bright, crisp, complete and fabulous. That’s exactly what James & Sarah Avender do for a living – how fun!

Pulse Spotlight, October 26/09 – Soulful Indulgence
Monday, October 26th, 2009Life is busy and stressful. And yes, while it is absolutely lovely to escape to a spa, its nice to have other options. Imagine being able to send the kids to school or out with Grandma, lighting the fireplace, putting on some relaxing tunes, and having a professional esthetician visit your home to perform relaxing spa services. After your treatment, you could get straight into your PJs and relax – no driving home in the wet weather, which is always a relaxation buzz-killer. Or invite a few of your friends over for an evening of pampering… set out some treats, open a bottle of wine and relax.

Pulse Spotlight, May 25/09 – White Album Weddings
Sunday, May 24th, 2009In 2005, photographers Mark & Elizabeth Kowal were planning to move from Mission to downtown Vancouver. They dreamed of opening a studio in Gastown, and found a number of great locations. Of course, life sometimes has different plans for us all. A friend suggested Mark & Elizabeth check out an old chapel for sale in Chilliwack. They went, they saw, they fell in love. Soon after, White Album Weddings set up shop in 1886 Wedding Chapel.
