The 2011 Vancouver Men’s Show takes place at TRADEX in Abbotsford November 18-20, 2011.

Movember is a major theme at this trade show. Friday night features a Best Moustache Contest, Saturday has a live Charity Auction and there’s a Putt for Prostate Cancer.

The show runs Friday 2pm – 9pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sunday 10am – 5pm. Adult admission is $10 or a weekend pass for $20. Children 12 and under are free. Movember appreciation discount is $2.

Teams represented in the 2011 World Junior A Challenge are Canada West, Canada East, United States, Czech Republic, Sweden and Russia. All events following the November 5 exhibition games are being held at the Langley Events Centre. Quarterfinals get under way on November 10, with the gold medal game being held on Sunday, November 13, 2011. 

The Canada West roster includes 14 players from the BCHL. The World Junior A Challenge should be an exciting event, if tryouts for the Canadian rosters were any indication. For many of these young athletes this is the first opportunity to represent Canada at an international event. Come on out to the Langley Events Centre to show your support for our Junior A hockey players.

The participants of the Million Dollar Neighbourhood have been challenged to plan, orchestrate, implement and host a luncheon that is sure to be the social event of the season! The event takes place at Mt. Lehman Winery on Oct 2, 2011 from 12PM – 2:30PM… and you will not want to miss this!

Guests will be treated to lunch by Celebrity Chef Anthony Sedlak -Winner of Food Network’s 2006 Superstar Chef Challenge And Host of The Main on Food Network Canada! He will be preparing lunch from a fall-inspired menu featuring fresh Fraser Valley produce.

There is a special surprise guest that will be in attendance – but it’s top secret!

The crowds were thick, but there was a wide variety of exhibitors to discover throughout the Marketplace.  It’s great to see local gems making a name for themselves on a bigger market and being able to introduce their products to a greater population.  A few of the stops we made were at Honeyview Farms, Anita’s Organic Grain & Flour, as well as Gelderman Farms and many, many more.

In addition to the marketplace, there was the Food Network Celebrity Stage that brought in the likes of Rob Feenie, Chuck Hughes, and Graham Kerr, to name a few.  There’s nothing like watching all the cooking magic happen right before our eyes!

If cooking shows aren’t your thing, make your way through Bite of the Valley, a bite-sized sampling of restaurants from the Valley to Downtown.  Each restaurant gets to showcase a few of their regular menu items in small portions that give you great incentive to go back to enjoy a full meal.   Frankie’s Italian Kitchen & Bar, The Baron Bar & Grill, and Washington Ave Grill were just a few of the restaurants participating.

Not only can you sample delicious food at Eat! Fraser Valley if you want to, but there was a selection of wine, beer and spirits to be tasted and tested as well.  Food and drink, all in one place.  We like it!

In addition to being a a journey of samples and entertainment, there were multiple learning opportunities between the Grapes & Hops Presentation Stage and the Cheese Seminars.  As proven by the large groups participating in these presentations, it’s evident that people want to make their eating and dining experiences even better through education.

The Fraser Valley Cork and Keg Festival is coming to the Langley Events Centre on September 30, 2011! A showcase of international and local wines, craft and premium beer, local cheesemaker’s and chocolatier’s specialties, this inaugural event is going to be fantastic and Fraser Valley Pulse is thrilled to be on board as a sponsor.

The festival, which runs from 7PM – 10PM, will host 600 attendees, showcasing 55 wine and beer purveyors who will be sampling over 275 products! Check out the list of vendors – it’s going to be fun!
