Hockey fans in the Fraser Valley are in for a treat this November. The World Junior A Challenge is being held in Langley from November 7 to 13. Canada has two teams in the challenge—Canada East and Canada West—both of which are looking to bring home the gold medal. Preliminary games kick off November 7, with Canada East playing the Czech Republic and the USA against Sweden.
Teams represented in the 2011 World Junior A Challenge are Canada West, Canada East, United States, Czech Republic, Sweden and Russia. All events following the November 5 exhibition games are being held at the Langley Events Centre. Quarterfinals get under way on November 10, with the gold medal game being held on Sunday, November 13, 2011.

The Fraser Valley’s first-ever event planners Tradeshow, Conference and Gala is coming to the Coast Hotel in Langley on October 24, 2011.
The trade show runs from 10am – 4pm and features the best event companies with the latest in lighting designs and decor, venues and entertainment options.

In case you haven’t heard, there is something really special going on in Aldergrove. 100 local families are coming together as part of a new reality show, to increase the neighbourhood’s net worth to $1 million in just under three months. Each week the families participate in a challenge to find new ways to save money, reduce debts and increase their financial stability. The show is in production at present and will air on OWN Canada in early 2012. Vancouver’s Force Four Productions is the local production company.
The participants of the Million Dollar Neighbourhood have been challenged to plan, orchestrate, implement and host a luncheon that is sure to be the social event of the season! Read the rest of this entry »
Last weekend we visited Eat! Fraser Valley, a Food & Cooking Festival for people who love to cook, eat, and grow food, which probably sums up most people in the Fraser Valley. This event has been growing over the past few years and this year did not disappoint.
The crowds were thick, but there was a wide variety of exhibitors to discover throughout the Marketplace. It’s great to see local gems making a name for themselves on a bigger market and being able to introduce their products to a greater population. A few of the stops we made were at Honeyview Farms, Anita’s Organic Grain & Flour, as well as Gelderman Farms and many, many more.

The Fraser Valley Cork and Keg Festival is coming to the Langley Events Centre on September 30, 2011! A showcase of international and local wines, craft and premium beer, local cheesemaker’s and chocolatier’s specialties, this inaugural event is going to be fantastic and Fraser Valley Pulse is thrilled to be on board as a sponsor.
The festival, which runs from 7PM – 10PM, will host 600 attendees, showcasing 55 wine and beer purveyors who will be sampling over 275 products! Check out the list of vendors – it’s going to be fun!
Whether you are a wine or beer enthusiast, a novice who wants to learn more or a seasoned guru – you are encouraged to attend. Tickets are available online and, if you purchase before September 15th, you are entered to win some great prizes.

British Columbia’s largest Fall recreation vehicle show, the Snowbird RC Show & Sale, is coming to TRADEX in Abbotsford from September 22-25, 2011!
This is a chance for individuals to see what’s new, where to take their winter holidays, enter to win the grand prize RV (valued at almost $19,000) listen to guest speakers and lots more!
This year, not only will the show feature over 200 new recreation vehicles, they have an inspiring featured speaker, Marc van Yperen, who took an RV trip around the world with his young family. He is going to have his RV on-site at the show, and will share his story with everyone on how he did this.

Feast of Fields, a gourmet wandering harvest festival (doesn’t that sound divine?) – is FarmFolkCityFolk’s annual fundraising event. Armed with a wine glass and a napkin, guests enjoy the fresh, local bounty from BC chefs, vinters, farmers, fishers, ranchers and food artisans. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system.
We are absolutely excited that the 2011 Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields will be held in our backyard. Langley’s Krause Berry Farms is hosting the event on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 1PM – 5PM.
