It’s a fairly unassuming location inside of the Quality Inn Hotel beside Home Depot in Langley, definitely a hidden gem. The special of the day was catfish nuggets, which sounded interesting. All I could smell was a deep smokey goodness, which I knew had to be ribs – so I ordered myself a half rack with two sides.  Choosing the sides was quite the task: coleslaw, collard greens, real southern mac ‘n cheese, seasoned fries – how can you choose?

Service was swift and before we knew it, two mouth watering dishes arrived on our table.  Oh. My. Delicious. Ribs are my absolute favourite and these were very tasty! The ribs were smokey and the honey bourbon BBQ sauce was delicious.  My husband had the pulled pork sandwich which was also delicious. I was completely unprepared, so I only captured this one photo with my phone. Looks yummy, eh? The menu was full of southern favourites – jambalaya, sweet potato pie, hot links, southern mac ‘n cheese. Boonie’s also has a kid’s menu, which is great!

Executive Chef Boonie Sanders learned how to cook from his Granny, whose photo hangs near the kitchen. When she passed on, his promise to himself was that he would keep her recipes alive.  Some of you may recognize Boonie’s as the restaurant used to be located in Cloverdale.

Take out and catering services are available.  We enjoyed hanging out at the restaurant, listening to the jazz music and chatting with Boonie.  In the summertime, he shared, there will be live blues performers out on the patio.  We’ll definitely be back to check that out!

The LAunch Man shop is a clear reflection of owner Dustin Russell; cutting edge and classy, yet fun and unpretentious. While the store wouldn’t look out of place on the streets of Vancouver or London, its friendly feel makes it accessible for the Fraser Valley.

At the grand opening on May 1st we had a great time checking out LAunch Man’s extensive variety of clothes, including collections from Haight & Ashbury, the latest Naked & Famous Japanese jeans, beautiful ties and soft, vintage style rock t-shirts.

Dustin greeted everyone who walked through the door and still managed to answer questions about products, advise people trying on clothes and ring through purchases. His love of fashion is evident in not only the clothes he sells but in the way he attends to customers.

LAunch Man successfully balances the latest fashion with the more laid-back Fraser Valley way of life. It’s sure to be a hit amongst men who are looking for a cool, unique sense of style.

Blo Blow Dry Bar is Canada’s only blow dry bar and I’m a pretty big fan of the concept.  Customers (aka Hair Cadets) choose from a menu of seven gorgeous styles.  Styles range from the razor-straight Executive Sweet to the rocker-chic inspired Sex, Hugs and Rock & Roll.  

I went for the red carpet treatment because, well, why not?!  The end result was fun, bouncy curls that lasted until I came home at the end of the evening.  Major win, as my stubborn hair doesn’t usually hold a style for more than a couple of hours.  Also available are Blo Bro for the guys & Blo Girl services for the little ones.  With the funky tunes and the bright pink decor, we bet the little ones would feel like superstars with a Blo Girl treatment!

This newest Blo Blow Dry Bar franchise is run by the lovely Blo Boss, Jenny aka The Main Tease and Karen aka Queen Coiffure.  Noting that South Surrey is growing like crazy, Jenny says Morgan Crossing seemed like a perfect fit for Blo Blow Dry Bar.  Agreed – it’s fab and a perfect fit for the area.  And, since it only takes about 30 minutes to get your hair did – that gives us ladies more shopping time at the new Morgan Crossing!

At just $31+tax, this is an affordable luxury for someone looking to get their hair styled in a timely fashion.  I have thick hair and I was still in and out in under an hour (including photo/gabbing time).  Call to book an appointment if you wish, walk-ins are also welcome.
