Boonie’s BBQ & Soul Food

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

This morning I was chatting with a client who recommended a great new BBQ restaurant.  I just happened to be free for lunch and in the area, so I stopped by Boonie’s BBQ & Soul Food to check it out.

It’s a fairly unassuming location inside of the Quality Inn Hotel beside Home Depot in Langley, definitely a hidden gem. The special of the day was catfish nuggets, which sounded interesting. All I could smell was a deep smokey goodness, which I knew had to be ribs – so I ordered myself a half rack with two sides.  Choosing the sides was quite the task: coleslaw, collard greens, real southern mac ‘n cheese, seasoned fries – how can you choose?

Service was swift and before we knew it, two mouth watering dishes arrived on our table.

LAunch Man in Abbotsford

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Men in the Fraser Valley can now elevate their style, thanks to LAunch Man, a hot new mens’ clothing boutique in Abbotsford.

The LAunch Man shop is a clear reflection of owner Dustin Russell; cutting edge and classy, yet fun and unpretentious. While the store wouldn’t look out of place on the streets of Vancouver or London, its friendly feel makes it accessible for the Fraser Valley.

At the grand opening on May 1st we had a great time checking out LAunch Man’s extensive variety of clothes, including collections from Haight & Ashbury, the latest Naked & Famous Japanese jeans, beautiful ties and soft, vintage style rock t-shirts.

Blo Blow Dry Bar Franchise Hits The Fraser Valley

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Last week I was invited to check out the brand spankin’ new Blo Blow Dry Bar at Morgan Crossing in South Surrey.  Have any of you ever visited their locations in Vancouver?  It’s an absolutely fabulous place where, in about 30 minutes, one can walk in with scraggly hair and walk out with perfectly blown tresses!  Blo is not a salon – no cuts, no dyes – just a WASH, BLO and GO!

Blo Blow Dry Bar is Canada’s only blow dry bar and I’m a pretty big fan of the concept.  Customers (aka Hair Cadets) choose from a menu of seven gorgeous styles.  Styles range from the razor-straight Executive Sweet to the rocker-chic inspired Sex, Hugs and Rock & Roll.

Nine Boutique

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

Valley Mamas, have you visited Nine Boutique yet?  New to downtown Abbotsford, Nine is a chic maternity and baby boutique that opened a few months back.  Owner Summer Dotinga invited FVP to come for a visit and we were so impressed with this gorgeous shop.

Nine Boutique carries pretty nursing bras (not utilitarian, scary-looking ones), chic shower gifts, fun nursery decor and lots more.
