Spring doesn’t officially start until March 21, but recent weather in the Fraser Valley certainly feels like Spring. The ritual of Spring cleaning began as a way to get rid of smoke residue leftover from wood-burning stoves that burnt all winter. Spring was an ideal time to open the windows and get rid of the dust before it was hot enough that bugs coming in would be a problem.

Although modern heating and vacuums have eliminated the need for cleaning to take place in the Spring, it is a great time to take stock of your possessions and re-organize your house.

Interview: Chef Dez – Valentine’s Day At Home

For those who want to enjoy a quiet, romantic dinner at home this Valentine’s Day, we asked Fraser Valley’s Chef Gordon Desormeaux for some tips. Better known as Chef Dez, you may have read one of his food columns, seen him perform at a local cooking show or taken one of his cooking classes. Since we can’t always hire him as our personal chef to cook for us, we asked his advice on creating a romantic dinner for two at home.

Interview: Marinella Tevely, Golden Naturals Skin Care

Not long after Marinella Tevely gave birth to her daughter in 2001, she realized that her newborn was allergic to many chemicals found in skincare products.  Marinella, herself, suffered from severe headaches and nose bleeds after using common household products. She had to find a way to keep her family clean and moisturized without irritating their skin.

Frustrated by the lack of affordable organic skin care choices, she researched the process of making skin care herself.  After reading books, attending workshops and countless trials she developed her own line.
