Save the Date – Fraser Valley Blogathon 2010

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

In 2009 I participated in Blogathon, a 24 hour blogging ‘marathon’ that sees bloggers writing new posts every 30 minutes from 6AM through 6AM the following day.  Why? For charity of course!  I collected donations to benefit the Langley Animal Shelter Society.

The 2010 Blogathon in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley will be held on August 21, 2010 at 6AM (until 6AM August 22nd).  I will be hosting an on-location event here in the Fraser Valley, while Rebecca & Raul will once again be organizing an awesome Vancouver location for anyone on that side of the bridge :)  Last year Vancouver’s event was pretty spectacular, with sponsorships of food, entertainment and more. I’m hoping some fabulous Fraser Valley companies and individuals will see value in what we are doing and will help our bloggers out with some sponsorship for 2010.  If you’re interested in sponsoring the 2010 Fraser Valley Blogathon, please contact me.

Our generous venue sponsor is Coast Hotel & Convention Centre in Langley.  They have generously donated some space for us to blog, relax and have a little fun.  If anyone feels compelled to drop by with some creative ways to keep our bloggers motivated, or to donate in person to any of the Fraser Valley Blogathon participants, we will be at 20393 Fraser Highway, Langley!

Bloggers, this is a fantastic way to utilize your personal or business blogs for a great cause. You choose the charity of your choice and we’ll get everyone set up with a CanadaHelps donation page so the donations go directly to your charity, online. Then we will gather together, keep each other motivated and have a great time raising funds for our favourite charities!

While we finalize all of the details, I’m looking for a head count of local bloggers looking to participate.  If you plan to participate or you would like more information, drop me a line and we will chat.  Thanks!

Thanks once again to Rebecca Bolwitt who is leading the way for us B.C. bloggers participating in Blogathon.

  1. I would like to know more about this. I am involved with Psalm 23 Transition Society here in Abbotsford and this would be a fantastic way to get the word out about this amazing organization plus send some $$$$ their way too.

Please tell me more about this…I’m still new to all of this stuff

That is 48 posts. I think I have 48 wprks of are that have not been seen and 48 artists that have not been discovered in Mission. I will do it to raise money for the Mission Arts Council.

I’m starting a new photography/home decor business and this would be a great way to introduce myself to those in the Valley. Count me in!

  5. We are away camping that weekend or I would join in. What type of prizes or sponsorship donations are you looking for? I would love to be part of this in any way I can.
Thanks and please let me know!

I am definitely interested in this since I blog daily & would like to do something with my blogging besides just, well, blogging. I’m looking for more details about this, especially about whether computers are provided for those who don’t have laptops to bring along. I just have a desktop & don’t know of anyone with a laptop who’d be willing to lend me one. Aside from that, I see nothing that would keep me from participating.

    Hi Michelle,

Participants are responsible for bringing their own laptops. But you may participate from home if this is not an option for you. We would still list your blog on the website.
