Feast of Fields, a gourmet wandering harvest festival (doesn’t that sound divine?) – is FarmFolkCityFolk’s annual fundraising event. Armed with a wine glass and a napkin, guests enjoy the fresh, local bounty from BC chefs, vinters, farmers, fishers, ranchers and food artisans. Feast of Fields is a gastronomic journey towards a sustainable, local food system.
We are absolutely excited that the 2011 Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields will be held in our backyard. Langley’s Krause Berry Farms is hosting the event on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 1PM – 5PM.
Since October 1993, FarmFolk/CityFolk has been supporting community-based sustainable food systems. They engage in public education with farm and city folks; actively organizing and advocating around local, timely issues; building alliances with other organizations; and harnessing the energy of their volunteers. Their 2010 projects include Seed Security, Community Farms, and Get Local. FarmFolk/City Folk believes it is the connection between farm and city, producer and consumer, grower and eater that creates sustainable communities.
Celebrate the fall harvest of corn, potatoes, tomatoes and all of the other local fruits, vegetables and locally-produced food and beverages. Join your neighbours for an afternoon of culinary delights from over 60 of Metro Vancouver’s finest producers and chefs. See a list of the fabulous participants, here.
Tickets are available online for $85 and they are going quickly! Be sure to book yours today – we look forward to seeing you at this exciting Fraser Valley event!
