5 Great Fraser Valley B&Bs

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

If you’re looking to get away this summer but don’t want to go too far away, the Fraser Valley has some amazing bed and breakfasts that are perfect for a quiet little retreat. Whether you feel like getting out and touring the area or staying in and reading, and whether you need a romantic weekend for two or a getaway for the entire family, these five great bed and breakfasts have lots to offer. Bed and breakfasts offer a warm alternative to a hotel stay, too. So when those summer guests are checking in from out of town, be sure to look for a B&B in your neighbourhood.

1. The Echoes—Harrison Hot Springs

With wood-fired hot tubs, cedar-log cabins, guided fishing, on-site massage service and boat tours The Echoes might be the perfect getaway. The location is remote—it’s a 10-minute boat ride from Harrison Hot Springs to the retreat—and has amazing views. Guests even get to enjoy home cooked meals—made with local farm-fresh ingredients—eco-friendly soaps, and spectacular river views. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway, The Echoes might be ideal for you.

2. Lodge at Twin Creeks—Abbotsford

If you need something that can accommodate your whole family—or even your sports team—the Lodge at Twin Creeks in Abbotsford is a great place to visit. Located on Sumas Mountain, with two creeks winding through the five acres, the Lodge has several types of room available, from a garden bungalow to a treetop hideaway, each with their own private deck. Group areas include multiple beds, bathrooms and a kitchenette, while the yard includes a fire pit and walking trails. Check out our spotlight feature on this great local bed and breakfast!

3. White Pillars Country Estate—Yarrow

Just looking at this place makes us think of lazy days in the sun, sipping a cool drink and reading a good book, or sitting on the lawn enjoying a picnic. White Pillars offers a private-entrance suite with a personal deck, gas fireplace and five acres to explore, if you can tear yourself away from your cozy room.

4. Peggy’s B&B—White Rock

Offering both a bed and breakfast atmosphere and a private guesthouse, Peggy’s B&B at Kwomais Point has the best of both worlds. Guests have easy access to a quiet beach, dog parks and ocean views. Meals are made with fresh, organic produce whenever possible. And yes, you can bring your beloved pooch with you. While there take time to explore White Rock, a beautiful community on the ocean, with promenades, vast beaches and local shopping.

5. Greendale Pottery & Country Guest House—Chilliwack

Planning on spending a night or two in Chilliwack? Stop by the Greendale Pottery & Country Guesthouse, where you have access to country-styled accommodations and a pottery showroom. Guests can stop by and watch their host making pottery, or visit the 14-acre farm, where grass-fed Black Angus cows are raised. Added bonus: you are just 10 minutes away from beautiful Cultus Lake.
